《 今 日 陈 嘉 庚 精 神 的 真 谛 》 陈 嘉 庚 基 金 廿 周 年 纪 念 庆 典 研 讨 会 文 集 2002 年 9 月 迎 来 了 陈 嘉 庚 基 金 成 立 20 周 年，基 金 举 办 了 一 系 列 庆 祝 活 动 ，主 题 为 "今 日 陈 嘉 庚 精 神"；旨 在 进 一 步 弘 扬 陈 嘉 庚 先 生 的 兴 学 与 创 业 精 神。其 中，由 陈 嘉 庚 基 金 与 陈 嘉 庚 国 际 学 会 联 办 的 国 际 学 术 研 讨 会，尤 其 令 人 瞩 目。 研 讨 会 邀 请 政 府 要 员 (尚 达 曼 先 生、Mr Teo Ming Kian)、商 界 精 英 (曹 兴 诚 先 生) 以 及 知 名 学 者 (王 赓 武 教 授、黄 有 光 教 授、赵 纯 均 教 授、梁 元 生 教 授) 担 任 主 讲，他 们 分 别 从 不 同 角 度、不 同 层 面 畅 谈 与 科 技、教 育 和 企 业 精 神 有 关 的 课 题，意 味 深 长，颇 富 启 迪 性。 本 书 还 收 录 了 诺 贝 尔 奖 得 主 李 远 哲 教 授 题 为 "再 谈 科 技 与 教 育" 的 个 人 华 语 公 开 演 讲，论 点 新 颖，视 野 广 阔，为 活 动 更 增 光 彩。 鉴 于 这 次 的 研 讨 会 内 容 丰 富，知 识 性、教 育 性 强，筹 委 会 将 所 有 的 演 讲 文 稿 加 以 整 理，编 印 成 册 并 公 开 发 行，以 便 让 更 多 读 者 分 享 到 陈 嘉 庚 精 神 的 真 谛，让 陈 嘉 庚 兴 学 创 业、无 私 奉 献 的 精 神 继 续 发 扬 光 大。 The True Meaning of The Tan Kah Kee Spirit of Today The Tan Kah Kee Foundation organized a series of activities in September 2002 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of its founding. One of the events was a one-day public seminar/public lecture on the topic "Entrepreneurship and Education - The Tan Kah Kee Spirit of Today", which was co-organized with The Tan Kah Kee International Society. A panel of notable speakers, comprising of government officials such as Senior Minister of State for Education Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Chairman of Economic Development Board Mr. Teo Ming Kian, eminent scholars such as Prof Wang Gungwu of the East Asian Institute, Prof Ng Yew Kwang of Monash University, Prof Zhao Chunjun of Tsinghua University and Prof Philip Leung of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, as well as outstanding entrepreneurs like Mr Cao Xing Cheng, delivered thought-provoking speeches relating to entrepreneurship and education at the public seminar. For the public lecture, Prof Lee Yuan Tseh, Nobel Laureate and President of Academia Sinica, gave a stimulating and inspiring talk in Mandarin entitled "Science and Education". He shared his views on how the development of science and technology had affected the quality of life, and emphasized on the importance of education as the fundamental element in the progress of society.
